Organizations & teams
Tracker is organised as organizations → projects → members.
Organizations
An organization is a top-level container for projects. Every user gets a personal workspace automatically on sign-up. Create additional orgs for each team, client, or product line via the org switcher in the top nav.
Every project lives inside exactly one organization. Org membership gates who can even see a project.
Org roles
- Owner — full control. Can rename or delete the org, invite anyone, change any role. Only owners can promote another user to admin or owner.
- Admin — can invite or remove members, rename the org. Can't delete the org or change owner roles.
- Member — can create projects and work within projects they're a member of. Can't manage org settings.
Owners can't be removed or self-demoted if they're the only owner — there must always be one. Transfer ownership first (promote another member to owner, then demote yourself).
Project roles
Inside a project, members have a separate role:
- Owner — the user who created the project. Can invite, remove, and delete the project.
- Editor — can create and update frameworks, requirements, gaps, tasks, evidence.
- Viewer — read-only across the project.
Inviting people
To an organization
Org settings → Members. Enter an email and a role. If the email already belongs to a Tracker user, they're added immediately. Otherwise you get a shareable invite link (shown once, expires in 7 days).
To a project
Project sidebar → Members. Same flow, but scoped to the project. Accepting a project invite also adds the user as a member of the project's organization, so they can actually see it.
Leaving and deleting
- Non-owners can leave a project from its Settings tab.
- Project owners can delete the project (cascades to everything inside it) from the project Settings → Danger zone. Must type the project name to confirm.
- Org owners can delete the organization from org Settings → Danger zone, but only if they're a member of at least one other org.
